My name is Augie Elag. I’m a partner at CMT Digital, a 28-year-old trading and investment firm based in the US. I lead our Asia office, focusing on crypto opportunities and founders building from the region.
Korath Wright (Gamma Prime):
You guys are a large player in the space. From your perspective, where do you see the industry heading?
Augie:
I think this is probably the most exciting time since I joined the space. There are a lot of tailwinds—especially regulatory clarity, with the US leading the way through the Genius Act and Clarity Act. Beyond that, we’re seeing new waves of innovation: RWA payments built on stablecoins, and consumer apps like prediction markets really coming into their own. There’s simply more innovation happening now compared to the early days, which were more focused on basic DeFi primitives.
Korath:
We appreciate having you here. It’s phenomenal speakers like you that help us grow into the largest side event at Token 2049. What did you think of the summit?
Augie:
It was great—very well attended, and the quality of speakers was excellent. Sometimes events can be hit or miss, but this one really stood out. Thank you so much for having me.
